Summer 2026 Events in Viscri

In Viscri, summer doesn't simply pass — it is celebrated. In 2026, two festivals bring chamber music to fortified churches and old Saxon houses, balls with traditional music, crafts and long tables in the hosts' courtyards. Take a few slow days and come live them for yourself.

SoNoRo Musikland, 17–27 July

The 8th edition of the SoNoRo Musikland Festival takes place between 17 and 27 July 2026, in Sibiu, Avrig, Porumbacu de Sus, Copșa Mare, Sighișoara, Meșendorf, Criț, Viscri and Poiana Brașov.

While the first edition gathered around the Saxon fortified churches, the following ones have grown to include jam-session concerts held in old houses now part of the region's tourist circuit — homes that honour their Saxon heritage through architectural details woven harmoniously into modern spaces.

Entry to the SoNoRo Musikland concerts is by purchased ticket.

Haferland Week, 6–9 August

Every year, in the middle of summer, the Haferland region opens its gates for Romania's largest celebration of the culture and traditions of the Transylvanian Saxons. In 2026 the festival takes place from 6 to 9 August, and Viscri is, as ever, among the villages hosting it.

Four days in which you become part of the Saxon community, with events for guests of every age:

  • Fortified churches: guided visits to the monuments that have watched over these villages for centuries.
  • Music: concerts and balls with traditional Saxon music, organ recitals.
  • Performances: folk dance shows, film screenings, exhibitions of crafts and traditional costumes.
  • Workshops: hands-on sessions for children and adults alike.
  • Homesteads: guided tours, visits to local farms and households, tastings of organic produce.

All events at the festival are free to attend. Haferland Week is a rare chance to experience at first hand the rural civilisation of the Transylvanian Saxons, still alive in the villages between Sibiu, Brașov and Sighișoara — a region that has kept its rural character and draws thousands of travellers each year, hosted in traditional Saxon homesteads.
